Lee Co., Consolidated Coal Co., Veteran WWII Eighth Army Air Force, 490th Bomb Group (H), Intelligence officer, proudest WWII service Operation Chowhound. Longtime active member of Christ the King Parish. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years Geneva Harding Van Balen. Survived by children Janet (Howard) Distelzweig, Dr. Joseph J. (Margaret) Van Balen, Mary van Balen, Elizabeth (Dr. Michael) Delphia and Thomas (Laurie) Van Balen; 17 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren.
