Tributes for

Tendell, Reginald "Reggie"

Reginald "Reggie" Tendell
June 16, 1939-August 26, 2012
Beloved son, brother, uncle, and brother-in-law Reginald Tendell, who went by Reggie, died on Sunday, August 26, 2012 surrounded by his closest family following a battle with respiratory illness. He was 73 years old. Reggie was born to Willis Tendell and Bessie Mae Leary (Bickham) in New Orleans, Louisiana. He moved to San Francisco as a young boy with his parents and brother Aubrey and lived here ever since. He attended Lowell High School. He enjoyed daily walks and jaunts around town to visit various family members.
Recently his illness limited his freedom and independence, but he nonetheless continued his daily excursions to the coffee shop in his neighborhood. He was always a very quiet and humble man, of few words, but very reflective and kind to others around him. He enjoyed the sunshine and fresh air, sports, family visits, and eating savory home-cooked meals.
He will be missed more than words can express. He will be remembered for his encyclopedic knowledge of history, his bright smile, and his clarity of spirit. He is survived by his mother Bessie, his niece Audrey, and his sister-in-law Cecilia, as well as his aunt and cousins. A funeral mass in his honor will be held at 10 a.m. on August 31, 2012 at St. Mary's Cathedral on 1111 Gough Street in San Francisco.
