Buzzard, Opal Marie
Born in Whitmore, Iowa on September 10, 1926 and passed away in Carmichael on March 19, 2013. She devoted her life to her family, nursing, and volunteer work. Survived by: children, Sue Spain and husband Cillian of Folsom, Ron Buzzard and wife Joan of Elk Grove, Peggy Bates and husband Leonard of El Dorado Hills, Janice Day and husband Keith of Carmichael; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren, and former husband, Willard Buzzard. Preceded in death by her eldest son, Larry Buzzard, who died in 1968 in Vietnam, while in service to his country. She committed her life to the wellbeing of others. Opal worked at Sutter Hospital as an LVN. She devoted countless hours to the creation of the California Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and over 5,200 volunteer hours to Kaiser Permanente.
