Tributes for

Kiker, Billy Joe "Bill"

Kiker, Billy Joe (Bill), age 81. Bill was born in 1929 in Tulsa Oklahoma, just 6 months before the stock market crash that started the Great Depression. Bill was the youngest son of 9 brothers and sisters. His childhood resilience got him through the Depression and equipped Bill to be the businessman and entrepreneur that he was. With his brother, he founded Kalus Company and built many apartment and motel complexes throughout North Orange County in the late 50's and early 60's. Following that he founded Aarco and Allstate Rooter and Plumbing, serving all of Orange County. And, after a short retirement, came back to found Abbey Tools in 1978, a retail giant in the construction supply industry. But more than his "midas" touch at business, Bill's treasure was his family and friends. In 1950 Bill married his high school and neighborhood sweetheart, Betty Jean Elrod, to whom he stayed faithfully married for 61 years. Together they raised 4 kids, 12 grandkids and 11 great grandkids...and their little dog, ChaCha. He loved everyone deeply and he was deeply loved. Bill was also "totally Mr. Fun." Be it traveling with Betty, playing golf with his buddies or being the center of festivities at family gatherings, Bill loved life, and there was nothing he wouldn't try, be it parasailing, riding elephants or dancing at his grandchildren's weddings. Bill is survived by his wife, Betty, and his sister Shirley Robertson, his sons, Gary, Kevin and Mark Kiker, Daughters Denice Scott and Gayle Cook and those 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren that he loved so much. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Hilgenfeld Mortuary. A Celebration of Bill's Life is scheduled for 1:00 on Tuesday, May 10th at Magnolia Baptist Church, 720 S. Magnolia in Anaheim.
