Tributes for

Holmes, Alison

Holmes, Alison Marie Wellmerling

Alison was born at Saint Jude's Hospital in Fullerton, CA, attended Foothill High School and graduated from Chapman University. Though Alison suffered from the effects of Type 1 Diabetes from the age of 6 she never allowed the disease to define her or dampen her zest for life. Alison was an avid surfer, world traveler and an inspiration to every life she touched, with her smile and positive attitude.

While traveling in Southeast Asia Alison met the love of her life, David Holmes. After getting married in Sri Lanka in March of 2013 David and Alison settled in Sidmouth, Great Britain where Alison taught baton twirling to the Sidmouth Majorettes - Shooting Stars and worked for the local government.

Alison was the happiest she'd ever been, living with the man of her dreams, close to the beach and countryside, experiencing the beauty nature had to offer. But most of all, being surrounded by the love and care of her devoted husband. In the short time she spent in England, like everywhere she went, she made many friends and amazed the people around her with her bright, enthusiastic and loving demeanor. Although their time was cut short, the incredible feats in love and life that Alison and her husband achieved have left a legacy that will inspire many.

Alison is survived by her devoted husband David; mother and father, Kathleen and Mark Wellmerling; brother, Nicholas; nephew, Alex; sister, Ashley; grandmother, Pat Derloshon; father-in-law, Alan Holmes; sister and brother-in-law, Jayne and Cor Von Mollendorff, their daughter Paige; many uncles, aunts, cousins, friends and her beloved dog, JoJo.

She will live forever in the hearts of her family and friends.
