David "Goo" Goulart of Fresno, Ca., and former resident of Monterey, Ca. passed away on November 15, 2013. Dave was a retired law enforcement officer for the State of California. Although Dave resided in Fresno, his heart and roots were firmly entrenched in Monterey. Dave was a graduate of Monterey High School, Monterey Peninsula College and California State University, Fresno While attending Monterey High School, Dave was an accomplished and decorated wrestler. In 1978, he ended up in the finals of the Central Coast Section and also represented Monterey High in the CIF State wrestling championships held at California State University, San Diego. Dave continued his wrestling beyond high school. He represented Cabrillo College in 1979, and won numerous titles/championships at the Police and Fire Olympic games. Dave will be missed by all who knew him and were touched by his big heart. Dave gave tirelessly to others and was very supportive of his community and former school ties. He was the type of person that you could call in the middle of the night for help and he would be at your doorstep in minutes. He made all he came in contact with better with his generous heart and sense of humor. David Goulart is survived by his daughter, Danielle Goulart of Fresno, Ca.; his sister, Diane Goulart of Aptos, Ca.; and his father, Frank "Toddy" Goulart of Del Rey Oaks, Ca.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as extended family members and friends. A Viewing will be held at Mission Mortuary, 450 Camino El Estero, Monterey, Ca. on Friday., November 22, 2013, from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. followed by the Recitation of the Rosary. A Funeral Mass will be held at San Carlos Cathedral, Monterey, Ca. on on Saturday, November 23, 2013, at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that any remembrances be made to San Joaquin Memorial High School Cross Country Team, 1406 N Fresno Street, Fresno, Ca. 93703.
