Dowden, John Logan, passed to the larger LIFE on July 3, 2011 in Huntington Beach, California. He is survived by son, William Edward Dowden; daughter, Deirdre Love Chapman; as well as grandchildren Kyle Dowden, Alana Dowden, Dana Rubarth, Chase Rubarth, and Tristan Beckwith. He is also survived by sister, Mariana Bornholdt; godson, Jack Pestaner; friend and companion, Dolores McGuire; and several nieces and nephews. John was a devoted educator, mentor, and friend to many throughout his entire life. A California native, he was a longtime instructor at Cerritos College, past president and board member for several years of the Rancho Santiago Community College District, and current Film Genres instructor at the Tustin Senior Center through Irvine Valley College. John was extremely proud of his family and in particular his Irish heritage. His hobbies were reading, golf, classical music, and horse racing. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 11, 2011 at 2:30 pm. in Waverley Chapel at Fairhaven Memorial Park, 1702 Fairhaven Ave., Santa Ana, California.
