Carmine was born in Revere, MA the youngest of eight children of Joseph Abbondondola and Mary Grace Motolla. Carmine had earned the nickname "chick" in high school because of the family chicken business. Carmine was attending Revere High when he met the love of his life and future wife, Angela through mutual cousins. After graduation, Carmine joined the Air Force and was immediately stationed at Edwards Air Force Base in Mojave Desert, CA. He returned to Massachusetts to marry and pack up his wife to return the very next day to Edwards. After deciding to leave the Air Force, Carmine and Angela who was now 8 months pregnant with their eldest daughter, Joanne, returned home to Massachusetts. It only took a few months to realize how much they missed California, so Carmine and Angela again packed up their belongings with their 5 month old baby and moved to Hollywood, California this time for good.
Carmine and Angela eventually settled in the San Fernando Valley where he started his illustrious and lengthy Pool building career. Carmine started with Anthony Pools digging ditches, learning plastering and pool plumbing and all the phases involved in pool construction. He worked hard and with his entrepreneur skills, decided to move to a newly developed town called Thousand Oaks to start his own business. It is here in Thousand Oaks, that Carmine started Revere Pools which became one of the largest Pool Construction businesses in Southern California. Later in life, Carmine and his son Joseph started another successful business in Palm Desert, called Unique Pools. After retiring, Carmine and Angela moved to Lake Forest, CA to be closer to their 3 daughters.
Carmine's vivacious and infectious personality permeated through his personal and professional life. He touched so many people with his friendly out-going demeanor. Carmine could not go anywhere without singing and yelling out to everyone in his sight. Family, friends, strangers, it did not matter for Carmine to strike up a friendly and very often hilarious conversation. His wit and banter made anyone who came in contact with him to immediately fall in love with him, not to mention his strikingly dark and handsome features didn't hurt.
