Cristeta P. Cachapero

Cristeta Paguyo Cachapero passed away peacefully in San Francisco, CA on Monday, April 14, 2014 at the age of 90 years old. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Frank Gonzalez Cachapero. She is survived by her three daughters Emilya, Frances, Patty, her son in-law James Chew and Patty's domestic partner Kevin Camia.

Cristeta, the youngest of seven siblings, was born on June 18, 1923 in Laoag, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. She survived with her family the Japanese occupation of the Philippines during WW II. In post-war Philippines she enjoyed her work as a primary school teacher. She immigrated to San Francisco, CA in 1950 and lived with her eldest sister and brother in-law. She met and married Frank in San Francisco and together they raised their three daughters in the neighborhood now known as Cole Valley where they were homeowners for sixty years.

The Family wishes to express deep thanks to the caregivers of Nobis Care Home, in San Francisco's Outer Richmond neighborhood, for generously caring for Cristeta for nine years. The caregivers maintained an atmosphere that lovingly nourished Cristeta's body and generously supported her spiritual life.

Cristeta will be dearly remembered by all those who had the chance to share their lives with her.

Friends are invited to attend the Vigil on Monday, 4/21, at 7:30 PM and the Funeral Liturgy on Tuesday, 4/22, at 12 Noon, both at The Evergreen Mortuary of McAvoy O'Hara Co., Geary Blvd at 10th Ave. in S.F. followed by the Committal Service at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma.
