RICHARD JEROME “BUCK” BOWERS, 91, of San Jose, passed away on November 25, 2013.
Born August 17, 1922, Syracuse, NY to William Henry and Ada Jane Bowers, Richard grew up with siblings William (dec) and Patricia. He piloted a B24 Liberator in the Army Air Corp during WWII. In 1944, he married the late Virginia Clare. He graduated from St. Bonaventure University. He retired as an executive of the Prudential Insurance Company.
Richard was a devoted man of faith and “music man”. He sang in the St Christopher Church choir for 32 years and formed a barbershop group The Christophers. He was a Knights of Columbus Grand Knight and a member of the Sons in Retirement. Throughout his life, Richard was dedicated to protecting the lives of the unborn. .
Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 19 years, Barbara, his children Richard Jr. (Susan), William (Diane), Timothy (Patricia), Eileen Sutfin (Terry), Sheila Drumm (Paddy), Mary, Trish Spindler, 26 Grandchildren, 25 Great Grandchildren.
Vigil Service Thursday, December 5 at 7:00 P.M. at LIMA-CAMPAGNA-ALAMEDA MISSION CHAPEL, 600 S. 2nd Street, San Jose with Visitation beginning at 6:00 P.M. Funeral Mass Friday, December 6 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Christopher Church, 1576 Curtner Ave., San Jose. Interment to follow at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery.
