Black, Kathryn Linser "Kitty"

Kitty, as her friends and family called her, was born in Hopewell Junction, NY on February 16, 1924 and passed away to be with our Lord on December 24, 2013 at her home in Yorba Linda, California surrounded by her loving family. Kitty was the youngest, and last, of five siblings. On March 19, 1947 she married S. Norman Black (Air Force Ret. 1961), who predeceased her in 2002. They were married for 55 years and she always referred to him as her "Sweetie." To the day she passed, Kitty missed her sweetie as much or more than when he passed over a decade earlier. Kitty is survived by her beloved son, Peter Norman Black Esq. (Libertad); her loving nice, Joan Hutchins (Thomas) whom Kitty raised with loving care as if Joan were her natural born daughter; as well as, many nieces and nephews.

Kitty was a beautiful woman inside and out. Throughout her life she was kind and giving to her family and strangers. Her beauty was celebrated during her high school years at Millbrook Memorial High-School (Graduated: June 24, 1941) where she was Ice Queen, May Queen, and Most Popular Girl. Kitty was brilliant, receiving the Regent's Diploma from Millbrook Memorial, and ahead of her time, learning to fly and making her 1st Solo Flight in 1957. Also in 1957, she received the USAF Air Training Command Outstanding Service Certificate.

Kitty was a passionate and avid golfer her entire life and a member of numerous golf clubs including: Fort Sheridan Women's Golf Group; El Toro Women's Golf Association; Yorba Linda Women's Golf Association; Fullerton Women's Golf Club; Women's Southern California Golf Association; and Birch Hills Women's Golf Club. During her life Kitty received many honors and trophies for her golfing abilities. Most notably: Randolph Air Force Base Golf Club Champion -1957; Hickam Air Force Base Golf - Driving Contest Winner - 1959; Yorba Linda Women's Golf Association 54-Hole Tournament 1st Flight Low Net - 1988; and Yorba Linda Country Club Women's Club Championship 2nd Flight First Place.

In addition to raising a beautiful family and engaging in many other activities in support of her husband's career, Kitty worked as a secretary and legal assistant during her entire adult life. She was a California Notary Public during the years 1985 through 2010. Most recently she was the Office Manager at Orange Law, her son's practice, during the years 2003 through 2013 (September).

Kitty was smart, generous, loving, committed, and an example of a life fully and well lived. In accordance with her wishes, a simple, graveside service will be held on January 31, 2014 at 12:30pm at Fairhaven Memorial Park in Santa Ana.
