Tributes for

Barrera, Esmeralda Muriel

Barrera, Esmeralda Muriel, on January 1, 2012 God called our beloved daughter, sister, and friend, Esme Barrera. Esme, 29, a long time resident of Austin, TX, spent her days as a Teachers Assistant for special needs children at Cassis Elementary as well as a part time employee at Waterloo Records. During her summers off she dedicated herself to Girls Rock Camp in Austin. She leaves behind her parents, Arthur and Hortencia Barrera; brother, David Barrera; sisters, Amanda Mills and Marlene Barrera; and grandmother, Bertha Jimenez. The spirit of this young rock and roll angel will live on forever. Esmeralda was not only a gift, but proof to all of us of the love of God. The force of her spirit will give strength to all who knew her and remember her everyday on every song that we hear, the smell of every flower , every poem that we read , on the smile of every child, and on the warmth of the sun that we feel everyday. In lieu of flowers, please visit the website forouresmeb.blogspot.com to donate. Visitation will be held from 5-9 pm Monday, January 9, 2012 with a Vigil/Rosary to begin at 6 pm at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Funeral Mass: 11 am, Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, 4800 Byron. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home Northeast.
