Tributes for

Austin III, Frederick "Rick"

Frederick John Austin III passed away quietly on March 19, 2015, in San Francisco, surrounded by loved ones. He was 43. Rick is survived by his wife Elisabeth Eyre Austin (Tripp) and daughter Sidney Eyre Austin. He is also survived by his mother and father, Doris Ann Austin (Smith) and Frederick John Austin Jr. of Johnstown, New York, and brothers, Bob Coonradt of Concord, California; Kevin Coonradt of Amsterdam, New York; and Tim Coonradt of Sarasota, Florida.

Rick was born in Troy, New York, attended Shenendehowa High School in Clifton Park, New York, and attended the State University of New York. He continued to live in upstate New York until 1997, when he and his girlfriend Liz packed up their small car and drove to San Francisco to seek a future that included warmer weather. Rick and Liz were married in 2001 and filled their lives with friends and travel. They eventually completed their family with their pug Pablo and beloved and beautiful daughter Sidney.

With his mischievous chuckle and quick, cheery wit, Rick was great fun to be around. Rick had the special ability to find common ground with anyone. He sought out conversation and made a genuine connection with just about every person he came across. Rick had a love for punk rock, skateboarding, and deeds of misadventure. He had a million stories and a huge heart-both of which he shared with everyone.

Rick was your buddy. He was kind, generous and loyal to family and friends, loved by many, and will be missed terribly.
