Bacon, Jesse Arthur "Art"

Bacon, Jesse Arthur "Art", 92, a long-time resident of Fullerton, passed away on February 26, 2013. He was born in the home of his parents at 212 E. Chapman Ave. in Fullerton. He graduated from Fullerton Union High School in 1940 and married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Alice Belyea, on June 27,1942. They had 6 children together: James, Barbara, Dianna, Carol, Norma and Gary. He worked as a letter carrier for the Fullerton Post Office. He was very proud to have served as a volunteer fireman for the Fullerton Fire Department. He also was in the US Army Air Corps. In 1942 in Roswell, NM. He was then stationed in Las Vegas, NV as a flying engineer on the B-17 aircraft and was in the South Pacific in the 5th Air Force during WWII. He later worked for the North American Aviation at Rocketdyne and for Hughes Aircraft in Fullerton. He also owned and operated several businesses including a laundromat, a fast food restaurant, and an apartment complex.

He had a passion for baseball and played in school. Later in life, he joined Senior Softball participating in many World Series games. When he retired from the game he was one of the oldest players at the age of 88. He enjoyed other hobbies including golf, bowling, and R.V. traveling. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy. He is survived by his 6 children, 9 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Services will be held by McAulay & Wallace Mortuary. The viewing on Tuesday, March 5th between 5-8pm and the memorial on Wednesday, March 6th at 11am. Services will conclude at the burial site at Loma Vista Memorial Park in Fullerton.
