Gerald Colby Van Dam, 77, passed away peacefully August 19, 2014 in Irvine, CA. Gerald was born June 22, 1937 in Moline, Illinois to George Colby and Phoebe (Strahan) Van Dam. He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Jane (Claerhout) Van Dam and brother Richard P. Van Dam. Gerald is survived by his children Cheryl (David) Woolcock, Alice (Joseph) Castrey, Gregory (Diane) Van Dam and John (Sarah) Van Dam; grandchildren Joshua (Amber), Michael, Nicole (Tyler), Aimee, Megan, Jack, William, Kelli and great-grandson Jared; sister Georgetta (Roger) Waters and many nieces and nephews. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather devoted to his family, an avid reader, member of US Power Squadron and graduate of Arizona State University.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 Monday August 25, 2014 at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Orange.
