Susan Gail Hopkins
1960 - 2013


Susan Gail Hopkins from Colfax Calif., born March 23, 1960 in Evanston, Ill. She attended Oak Brook N. High School, Evanston, Ill. And received her Master's Degree in Audiology and Speech Pathology from Western Illinois University, Macomb, Ill.
As an audiologist she most enjoyed working with her elderly patients. She was also certified as a teachers aid for special needs children within the Placer School District.
Sue married her college sweetheart, Dennis W. Hopkins, Jr. August 11, 1985 in Long Beach, Calif. She and Dennis moved to the Colfax, Calif., area in 1993.
She was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed hiking, skiing, and snow shoeing in the Sierras, cooking, and traveling abroad.
Sue was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Ruth Webber, Oppegaard.
This classy lady will be missed by family, a host of wonderful supportive friends, and all who had the honor of having her in their lives.
Daughter of Harry Oppegaard and Mary Ruth Webber Oppegaard. She is survived by her husband of 28 years. Two sons, Alec Winston Hopkins, age 21 and Dylan William Cash Hopkins, age 16 years; and her father Harry Oppegaard of Tomah, Wis.; Twin brothers, Paul (Haigyoung) Oppegaard of Willmet,Il, And Steve (Debbie) Oppegaard of East Dundee, Il.; twin sisters, Lisa Hansen of Buffalo, Il. And Jenny (Rodney) Brandon of Buffalo, Il. Also survived by four nephews, Martin Oppegaard, Josh Brandon, Chris Brandon, and Zander Hopkins. Also five nieces, Shelby Oppegaard, Elise Oppegaard, Brook Hansen, Sarah Brandon, Tila Hopkins.
Her beloved pets are two cats, Norman and Plato. And dog, Suki.
A celebration of Sue's life will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2013 from 1 to 4 p.m. at 1506 South Canyon Way, Colfax, Calif. The building is otherwise known as Granny's Plaza, next door to the Dine and Dash Café. At 2 p.m. friends and family are invited to remember Sue and share memories of her life.
