Tributes for

Stapleton, Ronald

Stapleton, Ronald Francis, 63, of Laguna Hills, a devoted and deeply loved father and husband, was the victim of a fatal automobile accident on April 17, 2015. He was born in Mentor, Ohio to Francis Kenneth Stapleton and Betty Jean Stapleton. He earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Cincinnati where he also was an accomplished Track and Cross Country athlete. He set school records for the mile and 5K meter races that remained unbroken for decades and he also became the school's first All-American runner. For these accomplishments, he was inducted into the University's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2013.

Ron moved to Orange County, California in 1981, and built a respected reputation in the industrial overhead door industry in which he worked for over 30 years. He enjoyed hiking, monthly poker games with dear friends, volunteering for his church and for Boy Scouts of America, but his greatest joy was in the company of his family. Ron will be remembered for his humor, gentle wisdom, deep faith, and genuine kindness. He lived his life completely in service to others, always offering his help, and never taking no for an answer.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian; sister, Maureen; children, Clint, Amy Homa (Randy), Kenneth and Joanna; grandchildren, Connor and Alie Homa; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Santa Clara de Asis Catholic Church in Yorba Linda on April 27 at 11:00 am. Shannon-Bryan Mortuary is assisting the family 714-771-1000.

Donations may be made in his memory to the Boy Scouts of America or City of Hope.
