Tributes for

Stanley, Joan

Stanley, Joan Margaret
(1933-2014)
The world lost a beautiful, loving woman on March 30, 2014. Joan Stanley, of Roseville, passed away surrounded by her family in San Jose. She was the beloved wife of 57 years to the late Alden Erskine Stanley. She was a best friend and best mom ever to Deborah Brouwer, and ever-loving supporter to her son-in-law Philip Brouwer of Los Gatos. Cherished 'Masauce' to grandchildren Allison and Matt Brouwer also of Los Gatos. Preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Joseph Benoit, her siblings Helen Duran, Patsy Truax, and Tim Benoit, and her dear infant grandson John Thomas Brouwer. Survived by brothers Dick and Robert Benoit, and numerous nieces and nephews. Joan helped her husband run a local dress shop, and later worked at McDonald's department store. She also volunteered at Cirby School and Roseville Hospital. She instilled a love and deep appreciation of art to her daughter and grandchildren. Incredibly creative and smart, Joan had a knack for interior design and personal style. Always a book or newspaper nearby, she was an avid reader and wicked crossword player. Her sense of humor took her by surprise sometimes, when we would be rolling on the floor with laughter. The joy she brought to our lives is immeasurable, her heart was among the biggest ever, and her love will never be forgotten. We miss you Joan, Mommy, Masauce.
