Tributes for

Spatz, Christopher

Spatz, Christopher Francis, 25, passed away on October 23, 2013 in San Clemente, CA. Chris was born in Mission Viejo on February 2, 1988 to Mark and Eileen Spatz, their second child. Chris is survived by wife, Kassandra; daughter, Brooklynn; parents, Mark and Eileen Spatz; and sisters, Chelsea and Samantha. He is also survived by grandparents, Frank and Marjorie Spatz, Brigham and Sheila Hansen, and Richard and Patricia Cook; aunts, Andrea, Joanie and Karen; uncles, Marvin, Stephan and Al; and numerous cousins. Chris lived in San Clemente for 23 of his 25 years of life, residing for two years in Keystone, Colorado. He graduated from San Clemente High School in 2006, where he had an illustrious baseball career, ending up with the 5th highest batting average in his league, and invited to the Showcase that year. To this day, the friends he made through playing baseball since age 5 are still his best friends; they are like brothers. Chris loved Colorado, skateboarding, the Angels, playing baseball and watching MMA. He was a big heavy metal fan, his favorite band being Iron Maiden who he saw countless times. He hoped for a Led Zeppelin reunion, which he planned to take his mother to if it ever transpired. He loved Las Golandrinas and Rose's Donuts, and mom's home cooking - his favorite dish was tuna casserole. He loved the family dogs, Bailey and Jack, always giving them lots of attention. Chris was a kind, loving, gentle person - generous and sensitive. He was a loyal friend to many, a devoted son, and a loving brother. But the proudest moment of his life was becoming a father to his beautiful daughter, Brooklynn Grace, born March 12, 2010. She was the light of his life, what he cared about most in the whole world. Brooklynn and her daddy had a very special bond, and he was an amazing father, gentle and patient and adoring. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Chris was a better person for it. Seeing him interact with his daughter was a tender sight. He was a joy to have in one's life, a gift, and losing him is like, as his sister said, losing a limb. The viewing will be held at Lesneski Mortuary in San Clemente on Friday November 1 from 3-5pm. The Rosary (also at Lesneski) is 5-6pm. The funeral will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in San Clemente on Saturday, November 2 at 12:00 noon. Burial will be at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery on Monday November 4 at 10am. In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a trust savings account for daughter Brooklynn's future college expenses. Please visit any Wells Fargo branch to make a donation. The account is in both her name, Brooklynn Grace Spatz, and her grandmother's name, Eileen Marie Spatz.
