Danny William Shaw passed away at his home on July 11, 2017 in Sacramento, CA. He was 70. Danny was born on Feb. 20, 1947 in Daly City, CA to his parents, John and Jean. In 1964, he graduated from James Marshall High School in West Sacramento. He enlisted in the United States Navy for six years, then found employment with the United States Postal service before returning to the Navy for two additional years. He would later work for the Washington Unified School District and retire after more than 20 years in the maintenance department. Danny started dating Shirley in July of 1974 and they were married on June 1, 1975. Together they raised four children. He spent much of his time working to provide for the family and enjoyed time with them and his grandchildren in retirement. Danny is survived by his wife, their children and numerous grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Jean Shaw of Diamond Springs, CA and siblings Cathy Voulgaris of Lindenhurst, NY; Ricky Shaw of Placerville, CA; and Guy Shaw of West Sacramento, CA. He was preceded in death by his father, John Shaw, and brother, Johnny Shaw. Memorial services scheduled for July 27, 2017, with a car procession departing from River Cities Funeral Chapel at 11:45 a.m., travelling to Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA. Following the service, a gathering will be held in West Sacramento to celebrate Danny's life. Donations preferred to the Wounded Warriors Fund and the VFW.
