Schier, Juliana Singer, aged 92, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 29, surrounded by her family.

Juliana Singer was born in Augsburg, Germany, in 1922. Together with her parents, she emigrated to Rochester, New York when she was five. She was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Rochester in biology. There she met the man who would become her husband, Robert Schier, and they wed in 1944.

Following the war, the couple settled in Southern California and raised three children. Julie enjoyed a 35 year career as a teacher in the Tustin and Irvine school districts. She is survived by her devoted husband, Robert, with whom she celebrated 70 years of marriage; her children, Robert Schier (Aileen), Susan Mandle (Tom), and Alan Schier (Denise); and eight grandchildren.

Juliana was deeply intelligent, thoughtful and kind. She gave herself in love to her family and many friends. We miss her and celebrate her new life.

A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 2 pm at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Tustin.
