Rocco "Rocky" Lombardi
Resident of Millbrae
Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his home on July 17, 2013. He is survived by his loving wife Josephine of 58 years and three loving daughters. Mary Brinkmann and husband John, Deanna Reudy and husband Raymond and Lisa Saucedo and husband Jorge. Adored Poppie to his grandchildren, Meredith Williams and husband Scott, Jonathon and Joseph Brinkmann. Raeanna and Jordan Reudy; Rocco and Georgia Saucedo and precious great granddaughter Megan Claire. Beloved son of the late Vincent Lombardi, Anna Lombardi and Maria Manzolillo. Dearest brother of Carmela Hoffman and husband Oliver, John Lombardi and wife Charlene, Mario Lombardi and wife Barbara and the late Vincent Lombardi Jr. Brother in law to Santina Polando and the late James Polando, Dolores Piazza and the late John Piazza, the late Rose and Dan Danna, the late Anthony and Frances Piazza, the late Nicolas Piazza and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Rocco was born February 20th, 1928 in Corleto Perticara, Provence of Potenza, Italy. With great pride and honor he came to this country in 1952 and served as a staff Sergeant in the Korean War.
After leaving the service he returned home where he met and married his devoted wife "Josie". He then became a successful General Contractor and settled into the city of Millbrae. One of his proudest accomplishments was becoming an active member of the Millbrae Lions Club where he served for the last 50 years. There he met many of his lifelong friends whom he valued deeply. Other accomplishments include The City of Millbrae Man of the Year (1995), District 4C4 Governor (1992) and served on the committee for the San Mateo County Grand Jury. He was a member of the Italian American Social Club and the Peninsula Italian American Social Club.
Several of Rocky's greatest passions included wine making, fishing and working in his garden.
Rocky will always be a hero and a great inspiration to his family and friends, and will remain in our hearts forever.
The funeral will leave the CHAPEL OF THE HIGHLANDS, El Camino Real at 194 Millwood Drive in Millbrae on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 10:45 AM for Saint Dunstan's Catholic Church, 1133 Broadway in Millbrae, where several decades of the Rosary followed by a Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 AM. Committal will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Colma. Family and friends may visit on Wednesday after 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the CHAPEL OF THE HIGHLANDS.
