Tributes for

Phillips, Mel

Phillips, Milton ''Mel'' On February 23, 2015 Milton Phillips passed from this world. Born in Tuskahoma, Oklahoma on April 4, 1932, his family soon moved to West Sacramento where he remained a resident for 70 years. After attending Woodland High School, he then served with the Army Corps during the Korean War, stationed at Okinawa. He spent his professional life as a building contractor, but managed to balance his avid interests in fishing, camping, and other outdoor activities with his extraordinary work ethic. A man of many talents, he succeeded in keeping his family and good friends close while exploring his zeal for life, including yearly camping trips with schoolmates from high school. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Eleanor. Mel is survived by his children Lorraine and her husband Bob, Gary and his wife Collette, and Dennis, as well as his granddaughter Chelsea and her husband Kevin. He will be deeply missed. Services will be held on Friday, March 6, 2015 at 11:30 AM at the National Veteran's Cemetery in Dixon CA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
