Patton, Mary Jane

Patton, Mary Jane, (nee' Trefzger), passed away September 11, 2011. She was born in San Diego, California, on May 25, 1922. She was a granddaughter of pioneer Orange County residents Joseph and Gertrude Young, and was proud of her heritage. After graduation from Laguna Beach High School during World War II, she went on to study at the Mercy College of Nursing in San Diego, receiving her Registered Nurse degree in 1944. She joined the Army as a nurse in early 1945, and served on troop trains moving wounded soldiers across the United States, and later at Letterman Army Hospital. With the end of the war, she was honorably discharged, and went to work for St. Joseph's Hospital in Orange, California. In 1951, she married Arthur Paul Patton, who pre-deceased her in 1996 after 45 years of marriage. She was the mother of three, Mark Hall-Patton (wife Colleen), Catherine Muggee (husband John), and Mike Patton (wife Tracy), and the proud grandmother of seven, Christine, Michael, and Daniel Muggee, Joseph and Ellen Hall-Patton, and Arial and Aiden Patton. She was loved and cherished by her family, and will be missed. Mary Jane was an avid reader and was a devout Catholic all her life, having gone to Convent Boarding School at St. Joseph's Parish in her early years. Vigil Service at Fairhaven Memorial Park Mortuary Chapel, Santa Ana, CA, Wed. Sept. 14th from 4 to 8 pm, Rosary Service at 6:30 PM. Funeral Mass at Holy Family Cathedral of Orange on Thurs., Sept. 15 at 12:10 PM. Private Interment at Riverside National Cemetery. Fairhaven Mortuary directing.
