Robert Morales, Secretary-Treasurer, Teamsters Local 350

Joined his Lord on Monday, January 26, 2015, after a long battle with cancer.

Born in El Salvador to the late Maria Aminta Orellana, Robert came to the United States in 1958, completed his education and joined the Army after graduation.

Robert started his career working in the Metal Polishers & Platers Union of the AFL-CIO.

In 1973 he joined the International Brotherhood of Teamsters as a Business Representative a short two years later he became the Secretary-Treasurer of Local 350, the office he held up to his passing.

Robert worked very hard in the Waste Industry to insure better wages, benefits and working conditions for the working men and women of the San Francisco Bay Area and across the Nation. Boasting the best contracts in the nation.

Robert was a respected leader in the Bay Area and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. He held many positions within the community and the Union. Secretary-Treasurer of the Teamsters Joint Council 7 for 20 years, Trustee of one of the largest Health and Welfare Trusts (Teamsters Benefit Trust), Chairman of the Western States Representative Retirement Plan, Trustee to the largest Pension Fund in the West. (Western Conference of Teamsters Pension Trust), President to the National Teamsters Hispanic Caucus. Director of I.B.T. Solid Waste Division, and appointed Commissioner to the San Francisco Film and Video Arts Commission, by Mayor Gavin Newsom.

Robert involved himself with many charity organizations, United Way of California, The Martin Luther King Jr. Society of San Francisco, The A. Philip Randolph Association, the Hispanic Foundation Senior Centers in San Francisco and GLIDE to name a few.

Robert is survived by his wife Maria Morales, his son David Morales (Veronica) of Colma, step-son Alberto Sandoval of So. San Francisco, Ca., daughter Jacqueline Cienfugos (Maynar) of Martinez, Ca and seven grandchildren, Robert, Stefanie, Mariah, Xienna, Nicolette, Sean Michael and Mark Anthony, Mother-in-law, Hortencia Coradoor of El Salvador, and brother Oscar Morales of San Francisco, Ca. and will be missed by many others.

Viewing and Services will be held at Duggan's Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Avenue, Daly City, CA Wednesday, January 28, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m, with Rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m.

Mass will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church, located at 221 Valley Street, San Francisco, Ca., Thursday, January 29, 2015 at the hour of 10:00 a.m. With burial procession to the Holy Cross Cemetery, 1500 Mission Road, Colma, Ca.
