Louise Carolyn McNeil
November 22, 1934 – January 21, 2014
We are saddened to report the passing of our beloved ‘Aunt’ Louise McNeil. A long time resident of Newport Beach, she died peacefully in her home on January 21, 2014. Born in Los Angeles, California to Delphine A. (Fowler) and Joseph A. McNeil, both of whom preceded her in death. Louise was also preceded in death by her sister Dorothy M. (McNeil) Slater and brother in law Edward J. Slater Sr., and nephew Joseph A. Slater.
Louise was a devoted, generous and loving daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Louise is survived by Nancy (Molitor) Slater, James P. (Tracy) Slater, Edward J. (Liz) Slater Jr., Erin Slater Hamlin (Lonnie) and Daniel M. (Janet) Slater, and by many grand and great-grand nieces and nephews that cherished and adored her.
Louise attended Mayfield Junior and Senior Schools in Pasadena, California. She graduated from the University of Southern California and received a Masters in Education from CSULB. She taught for over thirty years in the Newport Mesa Unified School District where she met and worked with many wonderful people. It was here she made her best friends and lifelong relationships which she valued greatly. She took great pride in her position and had a passion for teaching and helping children. She was an adventurer, traveled the world, and had a great laugh and sense of humor that will be missed. May she rest in peace.
Lastly, her family would like to thank Scott at H3 Assist, Hospice Care of the West and her care givers Aimee, Lanae, Sonia and especially Jennifer. Thank you all!!
Rosary to be held at 12:00 pm Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Brown Colonial Mortuary – 204 W. 17th Street, Santa Ana, CA 92706. Funeral Service to be held at 11:00 am Monday, January 27, 2017 at St. John Vianney Chapel – 314 Marine Avenue, Balboa Island, CA 92662. Reception immediately following at the home of Ed and Liz Slater. Burial will be private.Donations to be made in the name of Louise C.
