Tributes for

McDonald, Joseph "Joe Mac"

Joseph “Joe Mac” McDonald, 67, of Tustin, passed away peacefully on July 25th at Sutter Davis Hospital.

He leaves his daughter Lindsey (Andrei); daughter Maureen (Joey); sister Kathleen; sister Deborah (David); sister Marybeth (Rick); sister Bernadette; two grandsons Nico and Frankie; and many close friends who he loved dearly.

Joe was born and raised in Lynn, MA, the son of Joseph and Martha Jane (Moffitt) McDonald. He was one of six children and had a wonderful childhood. Joe graduated from Lynn English High School where he played football. He always loved attending sporting events with friends at Manning Bowl, especially on Thanksgiving Day.

Following high school, Joe attended broadcasting school at Career Academy and later relocated to Auburn, NY for a job in this field. He then attended Auburn College where he met his former spouse of 25 years, MaryLou (Madia) in Geneva, NY. After they married, they drove cross-country, relocated to Costa Mesa, CA, and set up a life together in Orange County.

Joe spent 15 years in advertising until deciding to make a career change into real estate where he spent almost 20 years as a realtor at Seven Gables Real Estate. He gave back to his community as a member of the Tustin Lions Club for many years and served a term as President of his chapter. Joe was generous, intelligent and adventurous. He was an athlete and devoted baseball fan - he lived and breathed for the Boston Red Sox. Joe had a passion for music like no other, was an avid reader, a proud Irishman, and an unconditionally loving father, sibling and friend. To say he will be missed is an understatement. Thanks a million for the laughs and love, Joe Mac! May your spirit fly high.

Please join us for a celebration of life at 11AM on August 2nd at La Purisima Church in Orange.
