Donald E. McClelland, 71, of Avon, passed away Friday, May 22, 2015. He was born October 21, 1943 to the late John F. and Ione (Hurin) McClelland in Lebanon, IN. He was a 1961 graduate of Avon High School. He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He attended Porter Business College and Ball State University. Prior to his retirement in 2003, Don worked 35 years for Consolidated Rail Corporation and its predecessors, and was an independent real estate appraiser and broker. He is survived by his daughters, Audra L. Vanderbush and Alicia K. Murphy; a son, Luke C. McClelland; two sisters, Marilyn M. Depasse and Carolyn Hunt; a brother, John M. "Mike" McClelland; and 6 grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon on Friday, May 29, 2015 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call on Friday from 10:00 am until service time at 12:00 pm. Burial with military honors will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of donor's choice.
