Stalford, Mark D June 23, 1950 - July 12, 2012 Mark was a sincere, loving, and generous son, brother, and friend, with a quick wit and an adventurous, fun loving spirit. He was a proud veteran of the US Army, attaining the rank of Sergeant. The parachuting skills he learned there led to a love of skydiving and competetive sport jumping. He was an ironworker known for great skill and exceptional work, and loved handball, backpacking and fishing. He could amaze you with his knowledge of almost any subject. The last years of his life were a struggle, which he faced with strength and perseverance, aided by the doctors and staff at the VA Sepulveda Spinal Cord unit, and the VA Long Beach Medical Center, Ward T2. Thanks also to his caregivers Brenda, Phil, and Mirna, and the staff at Sunshine Board and Care in Northridge,CA. A memorial gathering is being planned for a later date.
