Carlson, Margaret Irene
Was born in Sacramento, California, on January 27, 1923, and died on October 8, 2013, in Carmichael, California. Preceding her in death were her parents, Donald S. Compton and Genevieve Teresa Donahue, sisters Mary Jane Lewis and Louise Ann Deterding, and brother Daniel Compton. Her beloved husband of 48 years, Carl R. Carlson, preceded her in death in 1993. She was also predeceased by children Daniel, Donald and Genevieve Louise.

Margaret is survived by children Rob Carlson (Bonnie Bailey), Mary Alice Chapin (Sidney Chapin), Christopher Carlson (Cathy Winters), Russell Carlson (Lindsey Sampson), John Carlson (Geri Lynn Antongio- vanni), Joseph Carlson (Donnalee Wennerstrom), Andrew Carlson (Michelle Clarksean) and James Carlson (Kimberly Westoff). She is survived by 41 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, brother-in-law, Russell Deterding, sister-in-law, Paula Jackson and numerous nieces and nephews.

Margaret graduated the University of California, Berkeley, in 1944. Known for her outstanding hospitality, she was a remarkable homemaker for 68 years. Above all Margaret was devoted to her Catholic Faith and was a good example to all.

Viewing will be held Sunday, October 13, 2013, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Lind Brothers Funeral Home, 4221 Manzanita Avenue, Carmichael, California. The recitation of the holy rosary will be held at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, 4524 Garfield Avenue, in Carmichael at 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening. A Requiem Mass will be offered for the repose of her soul on Monday, October 14, 2013, at 10:00 a.m., also at St. Michael's. Burial will be held immediately after mass at St. Mary's Cemetery in Sacramento.
