Latimer, Richard ''Dick'' Entered into rest February 19, 2015 in Sacramento at the age of 71. Beloved husband of 48 years to Suzanne Latimer. Loving father of Jay Latimer (Vanessa) & Eren Latimer (Maria). Dear brother of Donna Campbell. Devoted grandfather of Ethan. Dick served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard and retired with over 30 years of honorable service. He was a life member of the VFW Post #67 of Sacramento recently serving as Post Chaplain. Dick volunteered his time to the community through numerous organizations including the Boy Scouts, Senior Baseball (an avid sports enthusiast), Sacramento County Sherriff's Dept. as a reserve deputy & the fire-fighters search and rescue teams. He set up the computer graphics program for the engineering departments at Sacramento State University, the University of Alabama and the University of Louisville. Dick graduated from Sacramento High with the class of 61, received his BS in Education from Sacramento State and his Masters from the University of Louisville. Visitation hours will be Thursday, February 26, 2015 from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with Vigil services at 7:00 P.M., all at River Cities Funeral Chapel, 910 Soule St., West Sacramento. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Friday, February 27, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 10497 Coloma Rd., Rancho Cordova, CA 95670. Burial will be in the Sacramento Valley VA National Cemetery, in Dixon on Monday, March 2, 2015 at 11:30 A.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the VFW, Post #67, 2784 Stockton Blvd. Sacramento, CA 95817.
