Tributes for

Jansenn, William Arnold

Janssen, William Arnold Age 83, son of Arthur and Emma Janssen of Atherton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on June 9th, 2012 at his home in San Carlos, after battling Parkinson's Disease for 12 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 wonderful years, Rosemarie, along with their two daughters and their husbands, Cindy and Marty Phelps of Woodside and Debbie and Ralph Schwartz of San Carlos. His pride and joy were his four grandchildren, Emily and Sarah Phelps and Daphne and Jeremy Schwartz. Bill is also survived by his younger sister, Barbara Janssen Smith and her husband Albert of Menlo Park, his sister-in-law Joanne Janssen of Southern California, and his many loving nieces and nephews. Bill Spent 15 years in business after graduating from San Jose State University and completing his tour of duty in the Army while stationed in Japan during the Korean War. He then went back to school to get his Masters in Business and took a position as professor in the Business Division at the College of San Mateo where he taught and also was a counselor for over 35 years and loved every minute of it. Teaching was something that came naturally and his passion for it showed by the way he loved working with students and the way they responded to him. One of his favorite pastimes was playing and watching sports of all kinds, and he spent a majority of his school years playing Baseball and Basketball. He also loved spending time working in the garden with his wife Rosie and together taking road trips up the Western Coast and searching for Coca Cola memorabilia for his Business classes at CSM. But his strongest passion of all was for his family, his pets, and his friends. Bill had a wonderful attitude on life and a great sense of humor, and was never at a loss for a joke. He always had a way to make everyone around him smile and laugh, and just feel good. He will truly be missed by all who knew him and has left us with so many wonderful memories to enjoy! A Celebration of his life will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 468 Grand Street, Redwood City where he had been a member since 1951. The Memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2012, at 4:30pm.
