Lois C. Henderson
Janunary 6, 1949 - August 15, 2014
Lois C. Henderson, 65

Lois Henderson passed away peacefully with her family by her side on August 15th, 2014 in New York, New York.

The daughter of Robert and Rosella Cornish, Lois was born on January 6th, 1949. Lois grew up on the family farm in Vernon Center, Minnesota, and attended Mankato State University where she majored in English Literature. After graduating, she lived in Denver and Chicago before moving to San Francisco to become a flight attendant for United Airlines, retiring after 27 years of service and world travel. She married Thomas Henderson in 1975 and moved with him to Lafayette, California. There she raised her two sons, Michael and Matthew. Upon meeting Albert Sisto in 1994, Albert and Lois combined their families and Lois helped to raise Albert's two sons, Brett and Jonathan. Albert and Lois have been together since, and the family subsequently moved to Orinda, California in 2000.

Wonderfully creative, Lois enjoyed painting and photography. She was especially proud of the stunning wildlife and landscape photos that she took during two safaris to Kenya and Tanzania. She personally compiled, retouched, and assembled these photos into multiple coffee table books. As much as she enjoyed seeing the world, she was happiest in her beautiful garden where she tended her roses, some of which she cultivated for almost twenty-five years.

As a mother, she took immense pride in raising her four children and helped them whenever possible in their own journeys through life. She remains an inspiration to her family and friends. She will be missed by all of those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Lois is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Rosella Cornish, and her stepson, Jonathan Sisto.

Lois is survived by her partner, Albert Sisto, her two sons Michael and Matthew Henderson, her stepson, Brett Sisto, her brother Jim Cornish, her niece Christy Cornish and nephew Robert Cornish.

A memorial service for Lois will be held at the Lafayette Orinda Presbyterian Church (LOPC) on September 13, 2014 at 2:30p.m. PDT.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to ARF (Animal Rescue Foundation) at www.arf.net. Condolences may be expressed through Lois' online guestbook at www.LoisTribute.com
