Hawks, Virgil

Our beloved husband, father and grandfather Virgil Ray Hawks passed away peacefully on July 28, 2014 surrounded by his family at his home in Elk Grove, CA. Virgil is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Hawks; Daughters Veronica Meek and Teresa Hawks; Foster daughter Christina Seale; grandsons Aaron Seale, David Seale and sister Betty Roberts. Virgil is preceded in death by his parents Virgil Hawks, Jeanette Coward and brother Jimmy Hawks. Born in December 1942 in Kansas City, Mo. Married his soulmate in 1960. Served in the United States Navy which inspired his career of 36 years as a Senior Hydro Electric Plant Operator for the State of California Department of Water Resources, California Aqueduct. His passion was collecting insulators, miniature scaled cars/vehicles and glass art which he placed in his "Man Cave". He had a talent with woodcrafting of making furniture and designing functional wood objects. He was a reserved and honest man who held his head up strong while living in a house of all females even the animals. A special mention to the wonderful Hospice staff of South Sacramento Kaiser, these people are "Angels" on Earth. Memorial services will be held at the Herberger's Family Elk Grove Funeral Chapel on August 6, 2014. 9101 Elk Grove Blvd., Elk Grove, CA 95624. Services begin at 2:00pm, reception following services.
