Hastings, Gene Filmore

Hastings, Gene Filmore Scott, age 77, passed away peacefully in Anaheim, CA on April 15, 2012 with his family by his side. He was born April 26, 1934 in Cresco, Iowa to Howard and Theodosia Hastings. Gene grew up in Iowa until moving to California to attend San Diego State University. He graduated with his Bachelors of Science in mechanical engineering in 1959 and began his career at North American Aviation. He retired from Rockwell International in 1995. Gene was married to the love of his life, Joan for 51 years. They came to Fullerton in 1963 to live and raise their family together. Gene is survived by his wife, Joan; children, Karen Hastings Baker, David (Kerry) Hastings, Charlie (Megan) Hastings, and Donna Hastings. He greatly enjoyed his grandsons, Kevin, Matthew and Ryan Baker as well as his great granddaughter, Kennedy. He was looking forward to the birth of a new granddaughter (David and Kerry) as well as a second great grandchild. He was preceded in his passing by his daughter, Cheryl; his parents and brother. We are blessed and grateful to have had such a beloved and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend touch our lives and hearts. A gathering to celebrate the life of Gene will be hosted by his family at Mc Aulay and Wallace Mortuaries, Fullerton, CA on Saturday, April 28, 2012. 1-3 p.m.
