He was born in Perry Oklahoma and was a Olivehurst resident since 1988. He formerly lived in Sunnyvale for 18 years.
He joined the Navy when he was 18 and served 21 years retiring in 1967 with the rank of master chief. He worked as an electronics engineer in the Bay Area for 15 years after the Navy.
In Sunnyvale, he served as treasurer for Raynor Park Christian Church and the Square Dance Association. In the Yuba-Sutter area, he has been a board member, as well as president, at the Linda/Olivehurst Community Center and the Yuba County representative on the Area 4 Agency on Aging.
He also volunteered his time assisting seniors with tax preparation for seven years under the AARP program and became the Yuba County senior counselor for taxes. He continued this work at home for several years.
He entertained the residents at the Yuba City Care and Rehabilitation Center with his karaoke machine once a week as well as providing a church service at the Yuba City Manor.
He married twice in his lifetime. His first wife was Norma Lee Franklin from 1948 until she passed away in 1976. His second wife was Betty Irene Adams. They married in 1980 until her death in 2006.
He is survived by two children, Susan Marie Brant and Charles William Brant, as well as four step-children from his second marriage, Ruth Franklin, Bonnie Akemon, Ernest Adams, and Jeanette Battise. He also has numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at Sierra View Mortuary on January 19th at 2:00 with a reception following at his favorite restaurant, Dukes in Olivehurst.
