Gantz, Dorothy Victoria

Gantz, Dorothy Victoria, a longtime resident of North Highlands, California, passed away peacefully at home on February 15, 2015, from vascular disease. She was born January 21, 1925 in Linden, New Jersey to the late Reverend Joshua Emmanuel Lawrence and Louise Hill Lawrence. She graduated from Bloomfield High School in Bloomfield New Jersey, pursued higher education at NYU, in New York City, and Hampton Institute in Virginia, and later served on active duty in the United States Air Force. She retired from the State of California, Department of Motor Vehicles in 1985. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Winfield Gantz; siblings Paul Lawrence, Norman Lawrence, Joshua Lawrence, Robert Lawrence, Richard Lawrence and Eva Johnson; and grandson Drew Alexander Carder. She is survived by her children Susan LeBlanc (Lawrence), Nancy Gantz, David Gantz (Margaret), Amy Gantz, Robert Gantz (Lili), Gretchen Gantz and LaSandra Johnson; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Dorothy will be fondly remembered by her 4 sisters-in law, a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, and dear friends. A Vigil/Rosary will be held at 5 p.m. tomorrow evening at St Lawrence Catholic Church in North Highlands, CA. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 27, 2015, followed by interment at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Sacramento.
