Franicevich , Kathryn

Kathryn "Kakie" Franicevich (nee McCarthy) Passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 26, 2011, while in the loving care of her son John and daughter-in-law Pam. Previously, Kakie lived with her daughter Joann and son-in-law Tommy Kelleher (deceased) at their home on Eureka Street. Kakie was born in San Francisco, CA, on February 28, 1921, to Jeremiah McCarthy (County Kerry) and Elizabeth Casey (County Cork). She grew up in the Sunnyside District as the youngest of four children: Johnny, Willie and Elizabeth ("Sister" Martino). Kakie graduated from Balboa High School, class of 1938. She met and married husband Thomas Franichevich, Mission High School 1936. She and Tom raised their four children, John (Pamela), Joann (Mike Zelinsky), James (Eugene Rodriguez), and Robert (Camille), on Hearst Avenue, San Francisco. Her grandchildren, Matthew Barnhart (Ugi Valenti), Andrew Barnhart (Erin Souza), Jenny Malchow (Carl), Emily, Danny, Jack and Tom, and her great-grandchildren, Finn and Katy, will miss her dearly as well. Kakie was a long-time member of St. Finn Barr's Parish. She loved her job with the Burt Levey Circuit, a theatrical booking agency at 25 Taylor Street in the 1940s, and SF's Schwabacher-Frey Company. She also enjoyed many years of working with the San Francisco Visitors and Convention Bureau, as one of the "ladies in blue." Kakie enjoyed a full life and was especially lucky to find a second chance at love in the last few years with Clarence "Spec" Speckman, an old high school sweetheart. Please join us to say goodbye to a beautiful and sassy lady. Friends and family are invited to a viewing on Wed.
