Tributes for

Evans, Faye

Faye Louise Evans was born July 21, 1938 in Woodson, Arkansas and died Sunday at Kaiser Hospital in Oakland from stroke-related complications. She was born the third of ten children to Howard and Ella Surratt of Foresthill, where she attended elementary school. She later graduated from Placer High in 1956, and from Sierra College in 1958. She spent the majority of her working years as a budget analyst for the US Army at Fort Mason, and later at the Presidio Army Base in San Francisco. But her real love was taking care of her family and beautifying her home. Devoted wife and mother, she and husband Earnest Evans raised their three children: Marjorie DeArmas, Anthony Evans, and Brandon Evans in Oakland, and were later blessed with seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Mary E. Surratt; her father, Howard Surratt; and her eldest sister, Velma J. Willis. She is survived by her mother, Ella Surratt; six sisters and two brothers, seven in-laws, and innumerable nieces and nephews. Faye's warmth and generosity will be sorely missed by all her family and friends. We love you forever. Rest in peace in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
A memorial will be held, Monday, December 23, 2013, 1 p.m., at Fouche's Funeral Home, 3665 Telegraph Avenue, Oakland, Calif. 510-654-8558. A reception will immediately follow.
