Tributes for

Berg, Darlene

Darlene Berg Passed away on July 13th surrounded by family in her Larkspur home of 37 years. She bravely suffered a long battle with Corticobasal Degeneration, a Parkinson's-like neurological disease. Darlene was born May 25, 1939, in Chicago where she later graduated with a BA in Art at the University of Illinois. She expressed her lifelong passion of the arts through painting, photography and music. Darlene's paintings radiate energetic colors and shapes flowing from quiet spaces to forces of motion and impressions of depth similar to the energy of the artist, herself. She was also an accomplished cellist, admiring how that particular instrument reaches deeper inside than others. Darlene reached deep into the hearts of all who knew her: family; ski, art, tennis and golf friends; book group; fellow wine makers and tasters and many more. One of her last wishes was to finish writing her memoir, "Dar's Canvas", which she did with the help of her dear friend, Shirley Dockstader. Darlene is survived by her husband of 51 years, Dr. Donald Berg; their son Matt Berg and wife, Karen; their daughter Caly Lynberg and wife, Rondii; and five grandchildren, Evan, Dylan and Jacqueline Berg and Wren and Tara Lynberg. Darlene's Celebration of Life service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of San Rafael at 11am on Saturday, July 28th followed by refreshments at Marin Country Club in Novato.
