COONEY, Wilbur M.
Loving husband and father passed away on June 15, 2011 at his home in Carmichael. He was 83. Will was born on May 28, 1928 in Baltimore, MD, the youngest of two children. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ann and Michael Cooney, as well as his sister Catherine Barnes and the mother of his first six children, Marie Quinn Cooney. Will had a 20-year career in the U.S. Air Force as a Civil Engineer. He was stationed at many bases around the world and served a one-year tour of Vietnam, where he met his second wife, Huong T. Cooney. He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Nancy Stam, Mary Lou McGinnis, Lisa Gonzales and Susan Stanislawski and three sons, Thomas Jay, David and John Cooney. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. In addition, Will enjoyed telling jokes and bringing a smile to all those he came in contact with. He was actively involved in philanthropic activities through the Knights of Columbus at St. Anthony's and St. John the Evangelist Parishes. There will be a viewing on Tuesday, June 21 from 4-7pm and Rosary from 7-8pm, both at Lind Brothers Mortuary, 4221 Manzanita Ave., Carmichael. A memorial service will be held at Calvary Cemetery, 7101 Verner Ave., Sacramento 95841 at 11am on Wednesday, June 22. Wilbur will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Precious memories last forever.
