Monroe, Christine

Monroe, Christine, went to be with her Lord Dec. 20, 2012. She was born in Buffalo, New York on April 20th, 1917 to Mr and Mrs. Ernest Hartburg. She was raised in Buffalo, attended Dennison University and received her B.A. from Syracuse University; received her masters degree from Buffalo State (now SUNY).

She was a teacher in the elementary grades. Her interest in the development of young children was a key part of her life. She was president of the Niagara Falls Girl Scout Council. She retired from teaching in 1982 but her love for young children never ceased. Watching youth choirs singing in church always brought a great smile to her face. She will be missed for her out going smile and her love for people. No matter how she felt, she was able to put on the good face when talking to friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Robert. She is survived by her husband, Paul; three daughters, Barbara (Mestler) Neal, Karen Natemeier and Christine (Kip) Gladish; fifteen grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren as well as three great-great-grandchildren.
