Creagan, Carole Lee, of Palm Desert, CA. passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with Squamous Cell Lung Cancer. She left this life at her home surrounded by her adoring family.
Carole was born in Ottawa, Ontario Canada to Robert and Leoni Cunningham on September 28, 1938. She attended a local High School and went on to graduate from Ottawa Civic School of Nursing. While working as a Registered Nurse in Syracuse NY, she was set up with a patient's friend. It was not long thereafter that she wed William J. Creagan of Rockford, Illinois, tying the knot on February 2, 1963. Within a couple of years and after the birth of their son William John III, the young family moved to Orange CA. Here they would welcome their daughters, Lynn Marie and Camille Ann. As the family grew, Bill and Carole moved their family to Villa Park where they witnessed the birth of son Kevin Patrick. The family would spend 30 plus years in "Mom's favorite home" before retiring to winters in Palm Desert and summers in Big Bear. Always surrounded by family and friends! Always in motion and on the run with horse and dogs! Always playing tennis or golf or at the gym. An incredibly vibrant and active woman!
Carole is survived by her four children, Will, Lynn (Tom), Cami (Mark), and Kevin; seven grandchildren, and one adoring husband of 51 years. Together, mom and dad shared a magical life, a living example of unconditional love for all to behold.
A Breast Cancer survivor, Carole volunteered countless hours to this cause and we ask that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation (www.komen.org) in her name.
In addition to her battle with Breast Cancer and Squamous Cell Cancer, mom was diagnosed with, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia causing her to face her biggest fears in life head on. Always handling each set back with dignity and grace. Leading and teaching us all while she endured. She touched many!
A memorial will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2013 1:30 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Palm Desert, Ca. with a Celebration of Life reception to follow at Ironwood Country Club.
