Carmel Barella passed away on August 22nd at the age of 77 surrounded by her loving family. Carmel is survived by her loving husband of almost 56 years, Louis Barella, as well as her cherished mother Rose Silvestri.

A San Francisco native, she was a graduate of St Paul's High School and a long time resident of Marin. Her unparalleled enthusiasm always made her the life of the party. Her infectious laugh and quick wit made her the one to sit next to. She had a knack for finding the humor in any situation and her glass was always 3/4 full. She was the guiding light of her family and loved entertaining both family and friends.

She is also survived by her beloved children Louis Barella, Lauren Chu (Alan) and Vincent Barella. She was the adored grandmother of David, Christina, Steven, and Nicholas. She also leaves behind a large extended Italian family which she loved.

A Rosary and Mass Celebrating her Life will be held on Wed., August 28th at 10:30AM at St Paul Catholic Church, 221 Valley St, SF. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA, 100 Stein Plaza, Room 1-124, LA, CA 90095 or to a charity of your choice .
