Tiedeman, Carl Frederick

Carl Frederick Tiedeman, 74, passed away on Friday, February 22, 2013 at his home in Rancho Mirage, California surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on December 13, 1938, in Los Angeles, California the son of Herbert Tiedeman and Virginia (Hagelberg) Tiedeman. Carl was not afraid of work as evidenced throughout his life. He worked many different jobs as a young man; such as, a baker, welder, and worked on the Arizona Pipeline prior to coming to the Coachella Valley in 1965 where he started C & M Building Materials on I-10 near Windy Point. In 1972, he moved C & M Building Materials to Cathedral City where it is currently. He loved the Coachella Valley and built a long standing business to be proud of. He supported all local youth sports, St. Theresa School and Parish and children's programs throughout the Valley. As well as the countless building materials donated for floats, school productions, and charity events throughout the Valley. His hobbies were many; fishing, cycling, collecting antiques, boating, boat racing, water skiing, football, and he loved traveling all over the world with his wife, Charlotte. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte (Brooks) Tiedeman, his children; daughter, Julie Chaney, and husband Gary; Son, Gene and wife Lori; son, Greg and wife Nicki; and son, Mark and wife Angela, his eleven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, as well as his sister Ann Etta Petruzzi, and husband Joe, and brother-in-law, Doug Moore, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his step-daughter, Lynnea Brooks, and his sister, Laurie Moore. A mass in celebration of his life will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church with celebrant, Fr. Howard Lincoln on Friday, March 1st at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in his name to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Orange County (CFF.org).
