Capps, Sharon
Passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack on the morning of Wednesday, January 8. She was 62 years old. She was born Sharon Lynne Jones in Santa Monica, California, October 29, 1951. Her parents were Orborn and Marjorie Jones of Culver City, California and her sister was Joyce Olsen of Loveland, Colorado. She graduated from University of California, Northridge with a B.S. in Home Economics. Her love of horses started at an early age in her hometown of Culver City and in 1979, she moved to Northern California where she went to the Pacific Horse Center in Wilton. There she met her future husband, Gordon Capps, while he was shoeing her horse. They were married on December 26, 1981 at Morris Chapel in Stockton, California. Her wedding dress and his jacket were made by her own hand, exemplifying her skills in sewing and crafts. They moved to Acampo, California where they had their first daughter, Lindy Capps, of Jefferson City, Missouri, in September 1987. In April 1989, they had their second daughter, Kelly Capps, of Galt, California. Sharon loved her cats, Chewy and Tuffy, the latter which she raised from two days old. Over 35 years at any given time, she owned a Doberman pinscher, training, breeding, and loving them for their loyal companionship. Her hobbies included trail riding, sewing, crocheting, garage saling, and finding the craziest deals on Craigslist. She worked for 35 years as a hearing representative for workers compensation and only three and a half years ago retired. She loved to read and participated in a book club with the First Baptist Church of Lodi. She was well loved in the church and returned that love with a fervor. She was very much looking forward to the completion of her log home in Galt, California. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, sister, two sisters-in-law, Susan Capps and Bridget Capps-Balsley, her two brothers-in-law, Robert Olsen and David Balsley, niece, Heather Olsen-Lancaster, and nephew, Eric Olsen. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Lodi Funeral Home. Services will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Lodi. Committal will follow at Cherokee Memorial Park.
