William "Bill" Hey Burton, 80, of Indian Wells, Calif., passed away December 11, 2013 in Indian Wells, Calif. of natural causes. He was born December 29, 1932 to Robert and Wilma Hey Burton in Waterloo, Iowa. He married Joyce Kortemeyer on June 3, 1978 in Waterloo, Iowa. He was the owner of multiple auto dealerships in Michigan, Iowa and California for 48 years. He also served in the Air Force as a jet fighter pilot. He was a member of La Quinta Golf Resort, Mission Hills, PGA West, Bighorn and Indian Ridge golf clubs. Palm Desert Community Presbyterian Church (Board of Trustees, member of Choir and Mariners Social Group)-Member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity - University of Iowa Alumni Association. He served in the Air Force from 1955-1961 as a Pilot and 1st Lieutenant. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Burton of Indian Wells and his beloved dog, Bella Burton; daughters, Kerry Powers of Tampa, Fla.; Denise Burton Roberts of Indio, Calif.; sons, Steve Burton of San Diego, Calif. and Jim Burton of Marietta, Ga. Other survivors include ten grandchildren: Ben, Grace & Sam Powers, Will and Callen Burton, Meghan, Emma & Jake Burton, Felicia and Michael Roberts, and a sister, Martha Larson of Peterson, Minn. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on January 11, 2014 at Palm Desert Community Presbyterian Church, 47-321 Highway 74, Palm Desert, Calif. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Bill's name.
