Wilbur "Bud" Robertson passed away peacefully on February 2, 2013. He was born in Los Angeles on November 3, 1928 to Martha and William Robertson. He was raised In South Pasadena and attended South Pasadena High School where he was a South Pasadena High School Hall of Fame athlete. Upon graduating in 1946, Wilbur went to USC on a football scholarship. After sharing the quarterbacking duties on the undefeated Trojan frosh team, Wilbur was looking forward to a promising career as a Trojan. He was slated to be the starter for the Trojans 1949 campaign only to be knocked out by a broken jaw suffered in practice. As Wilbur told it, the injury derailed his quarterbacking career and all chances for the "Heisman". After a brief stint in the Navy, Wilbur embarked on a long and successful run as a "foundryman" starting and running many successful aluminum casting foundries culminating in his partnership with John Sironian running Western Wheel Corporation. At the time one of the largest producers of "Mag" wheels in the world. Upon selling Western Wheel, Wilbur retired to La Quinta, Calif. where he enjoyed golf and cards at La Quinta Country Club. Wilbur leaves many friends who remember his brilliant mind and gift for telling a great story. He is survived and will be missed by his six children, Lisa Gleason, Bill Robertson, Linda Hanley, Jill Davis, Kathleen Schreiber and Rick Robertson. A private memorial is pending.
