Buckhammer, Linda

Linda Ann Buckhammer, passed away in Roseville on Thursday, October 8, 2015 from complications related to surgery. She was born in Cheyenne, WY where her father was stationed during his service in the Air Force. She was preceded in death by her father, Larry Vargas. She is survived by her loving husband, Gary; constant companion, "Mr. Bentley"; mother, Catherine Vargas; brothers, Steve Vargas (Nancy) and Tim Vargas (Dawn E); sister, Theresa Vargas-Jones (Chris); Aunt, Diane and Uncle, Gary Larsen; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cherished friends; and many cherished friends. She graduated from Wagner High School and attended Solano College. She worked for Caltrans, where she made countless life-long friends she considered family. She retired after 32 years of state service. Linda had a radiant personality; she had a big smile and a big hug for everyone, she could make anyone laugh. She was passionate about helping people; she was past president of the Roseville Emblem Club, chaired fundraisers and served as the United Way Coordinator for Caltrans. Linda was especially happy when she was spending time with family and friends, singing, dancing, fishing, RVing, or cruising. Although she endured much pain and many trials after her stroke three years ago, she drew much comfort and strength in knowing that God was ever at her side. Family and friends are invited to: Visitation/ Rosary: Wednesday, 10/21/2015, 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM with Rosary at 6:00 PM at Cochrane & Wagemann, 103 Lincoln Street, Roseville. Funeral Mass: Thursday, 10/22/2015, 10:00 AM at St. Rose of Lima Church, 615 Vine Ave, Roseville. Graveside Service: Thursday, 10/22/2015, 2:30 PM at Sacramento Valley Cemetery, Dixon. Charitable contributions may be made in Linda's name to the American Diabetes Association or Placer County SPCA. Gary wishes to extend a special thanks to the medical staff at Kaiser Roseville for the warm and compassionate care they provided for Linda.
