Brian Anthony McMahon Oct. 31st, 1966 - Oct 4, 2013 Brian McMahon died tragically on Friday October 4, 2013 in San Rafael. He was 46 years young. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Patricia (nee Fitzgerald) and sons, Luke and Rory. Brian was a devoted son and one of nine children born to Murty and Bridie (nee Leyden, RIP) McMahon in Cahermine West, Kilfenora, Co. Clare; and will be sadly missed by his siblings: Maureen (Flan Clune), Michael (Ann), Noel, Patsy, Murt (Bernie), Eilish (Pat O'Donohue), John (Suzie), and Brid (Seamus Cotter) and brothers in law, Michael (RIP) (Mary), Jos (Eileen), Tomas (Margaret), Garrett (Mary Clare) and sisters in law, Catherine, Joan (Shane) and his many heartbroken nieces and nephews. He truly touched the lives of so many - young and old alike and none were spared from his scathing wit and roguish charms. Brian lived life to the fullest - his humor and zest for life infected and uplifted all who crossed his path. Most of all he was a phenomenon on and off the field and his home was a source of joy for adults and children alike but first and foremost, he was a devoted husband and proud father and friend to all. His passion for sports started at an early age with the Kilfenora GAA and his support for his beloved Co. Clare. He was the most devoted and vocal Manchester United supporter and after coming to San Francisco in 1989, he played a host of sports for many teams, including the Young Irelanders (North American Intermediate Championship) and Erin's Isle (North American Junior Championship), Celtics and East Bay United. His talent as a player was matched by his patience as a coach of his sons' soccer, basketball and baseball teams over the years. "Coach Brian" easily won the heart of every child under his benevolent guidance. He was a lifelong San Francisco 49ers and Giants supporter and as much as he embraced the American way of life, he remained true to his roots and feverishly followed the sporting events back home. He was never happier than when Clare won the All Ireland hurling final this year. His many years at stucco earned him the coveted title of being "The VanGough of Stucco". After decades of stucco, he recently started a new company specializing in underground pipelines in Marin County which allowed him to spend more time with his family. Brian could never see a neighbor in need or a friend in want. He was always happy to lend a hand and lighten the mood with his characteristic humor and charm. He was some man for one man and we will all miss him dearly. All are welcome to join for visitation to be held on Thursday, October 10th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at St. Isabella Church, 1 Trinity Way, San Rafael, 94903, followed by a Vigil Service.
